From 1820 to 1830 there was a slight decrease in the ratio of males to females, from 1860 to 1870 a rather marked decrease, and some decrease from 1890 to 1900. The ratio increased steadily from 1830 to 1860 and from 1870 to 1890. The ratio was lowest at the census of 1870, males to 100 females, and highest at the census of 1910, 106 to 100.
